SETTING GOALS FOR OUR SUCCESS

THE IMPORTANCE OF SETTING GOALS FOR OURSELVES

Having goals is a good way to focus attention on the things that are important. It allows us to create a vision of how we would like our life to be. When we have a goal, we tend to increase the amount of time and effort we spend on an activity, and develop effective strategies to achieve that goal.

This is the first draft of my Personal Growth Chart for 2023.  These few lines will then inspire more content for each category, and when I have looked at some of my charts from previous years, I will undoubtedly find many other things to add.  The good thing about looking at my old charts is discovering the many things I have achieved and how my progress, although very slow has moved towards the goals I set myself back in 2004.

When you are looking through your chart in a weeks time or a months time, it will jog your memory and inspire you to perhaps, “Phone Mum” or “Pay £20 into your savings account”. With each action you take, you can write a tick beside that entry, giving you tangible proof of the positive actions you are achieving towards your goal.

Writing out your goals in whatever method suits you becomes an indelible reminder of your intentions, and like a road map leading from point A to point B, the chart will guide you along the path towards your goals.

A GREAT GOAL FOR 2024, ESCAPING THE TRAP OF CREDIT CARD DEBT.  READ THIS ARTICLE BY RANDY GAGE AND DO YOUR BEST TO FOLLOW HIS ADVICE

ESCAPING DEBT by RANDY GAGE

If you are completely debt free – and by that I mean you own
your home, car and everything else clear – congratulations.  For
the rest of you, please read on…

I’ve got some homework for you today.  Get out the current or
last statement from every credit card account you have.  Start a
list, and write the amount you owe on each one.  Then look at
the fine print on each statement and see what interest rate you
are paying.  You might be shocked!

Most cards start out with an almost reasonable rate.  But when
you take a cash advance, that gets a different rate.  Anywhere
from 25 to 40%!  And when you send in your payment each month,
they apply it to the installment stuff, not the cash advance.
They make that the last thing you pay, so they make the most
interest.

Take their offer to skip a payment and discover
that your rate goes up.  Accept their credit line increase and
your rate may go up.  In fact, almost every “nice” offer they
make to you has some fine print authorizing them to raise your
rate.

Something else you should know about those nice credit card
companies…

If you just send that minimum monthly payment they are so
gracious to offer you, it will take you 41 years to pay off your
card!  So let’s go back to your list.  Add them all up and see
what you really owe.  Most people avoid this, and like to think
they are much better off than they actually are.

Get the real picture.

Set yourself a realistic, non-emotional and very strict budget for
what you are going to spend.  Make the commitment that each month ON EVERY CARD, you will pay ALL of
the new charges, and a certain amount to reduce that balance.

Become the Highest Possible Version of Yourself!

Motivators

When we are young we can measure our achievements by the grades we have been awarded for our studies, but as adults we have fewer yardsticks by which to quantify achievements or failures.

I have been suggesting setting out a nine square chart with the key categories for personal goals and self-development.  By reading my plans from time to time throughout the year, I am motivated to take action which I would forget about otherwise.

I began making an annual chart for my growth back in 2003, when I first read about this method of setting out my goals and charting a route to achieving them.  I now have twelve charts to look back over and give me an idea of all the targets I missed and all the small steps I have achieved towards my ultimate goal of success.  I may have been aiming to become a successful business woman when I began, but that goal still eludes me.

My pride and pleasure comes from my achievements learning web-site design and the elements of promotion and search engine optimisation.  I feel, continuing to learn new skills has benefited my brain and stopped it from stagnating.
